Neuromuscular Massage Therapy

Susanna Greever

Meet Susanna: Expert Neuromuscular Massage Therapist | 21 Years of Clinical Experience

Living with pain can be exhausting. Whether you've tried multiple treatments, experienced only temporary relief, or feel like your progress has stalled, you're not alone.

With more than 21 years of clinical experience, Susanna understands firsthand how frustrating and debilitating pain can be. Her goal is to help you better understand your body, identify the mechanical factors contributing to your discomfort, and create a personalized treatment plan focused on what matters most to you.

Rather than simply treating symptoms, Susanna works alongside you through a collaborative, educational process that empowers you to take an active role in your recovery. Every session is individualized, ensuring your treatment aligns with your goals, lifestyle, and daily activities.

She also believes the best outcomes happen when healthcare providers work together. When appropriate, Susanna collaborates with other members of your care team—including physical therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, pain management providers, Pilates instructors, personal trainers, yoga instructors, and other healthcare professionals—to provide coordinated care that supports your overall wellness.

Pain & Movement Restoration

What to Expect During Your First Visit

How Is Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Different?

What to Expect During Your First Visit

Your initial session is designed to understand how your body moves and responds to different positions and activities, allowing treatment to be tailored specifically to your needs.

Your visit includes:

  • A comprehensive health and movement history
  • A thorough neuromuscular and mechanical assessment
  • Discussion of your goals and priorities
  • Hands-on therapeutic treatment
  • Education to help you better understand your pain
  • Personalized recommendations to support long-term progress

Please Note: This assessment is not intended to diagnose medical conditions or replace an evaluation by a physician or physical therapist. Instead, it helps identify movement patterns, muscle imbalances, and mechanical contributors that may be influencing your symptoms and guides individualized treatment.

What Is Neuromuscular Massage Therapy?

What to Expect During Your First Visit

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is an advanced form of therapeutic massage that focuses on relieving pain by addressing the underlying muscular and movement-related factors contributing to discomfort.

Rather than simply relaxing tight muscles, this specialized approach targets:

  • Muscle imbalances
  • Trigger points
  • Areas of nerve irritation
  • Fascial restrictions
  • Dysfunctional movement patterns

The goal is to restore healthier movement, decrease pain, improve mobility, and help your body function more efficiently.

Susanna incorporates a variety of evidence-informed techniques including:

  • Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (PNMT)
  • Neuromyofascial Therapy
  • Neuro-reeducation techniques
  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Therapeutic movement education
  • Integrative manual therapy techniques
  • Kinesiology taping when appropriate

Each treatment plan is customized to your unique needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Traditional massage is primarily designed to promote relaxation and relieve general muscle tension.

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is different.

Instead of asking, "Where does it hurt?" Susanna asks:

"Why does it hurt?"

Treatment focuses on identifying the mechanical causes that contribute to pain, including movement habits, muscle dysfunction, trigger points, and nerve irritation, so therapy addresses the source of the problem whenever possible.

This corrective, results-driven approach is especially helpful for people experiencing pain that:

  • Changes with movement or position
  • Increases during specific activities
  • Improves with certain movements or rest
  • Returns repeatedly despite previous treatment

This type of discomfort is often referred to as mechanical pain, and it is the primary focus of Susanna's practice.
